What
is Anodyne Therapy? |
| |
 |
Anodyne Therapy
is relatively new treatment for peripheral and diabetic neuropathy.
It is an infrared light treatment known to help relieve the pain
and numbness associated with neuropthy and for improving blood
flow. |
|
 |
|
| |
How
does it work? |
| |
A soft
flexible pad containing light emitting diodes (LED) ,or mini
lights is applied to the affected area. The pads are attached
to a small machine. When the trained Experts in Home Health
Care clinician applies your pads and calibrates the machine,
your first of approximately twelve 20-40 minute treatments begin.
The pads are held in place on your feet, legs, hands,or arms
by velcro tape, so that the photo-energy reaches the affected
areas without shifting away from the targeted neuropathy location.
The positive circulation improvement, associated with Anodyne
Therapy, is believed to be enhanced by exercise, so while
you are seated with the pads in place, your Experts in Home
Health Care therapist will guide you through some simple exercises.
It is important to understand that Diabetic Neuropathy is
worsened by fluctuating and elevated blood sugars.Part of
your treatment will include education on ways you, can incorporate
healthy diet and exercises strategies into your lifestyle.

The
History Behind Anodyne Therapy |
| |
Modern
Infrared Light Treatment for pain and neuropathy partially caught
on thanks to the work of a California research technologist,
named Maurice Bales, who, presented his findings at a research
symposium back in 1999. He demonstrated a new machine that would
provide photonic stimulation to the sympathetic nervous systems
and proceeded to show images of the changes in patients, as
his treatments were being rendered.
Research has advanced since 1999 and if we fast forward to
2006, we are pleased to be able to offer Anodyne Therapy,
which, has been FDA approved for temporary relief from the
pain and numbness associated with peripheral and Diabetic
Neuropathy.
There have been 15 studies conducted, over the last few years,
including one involving the Navy Seals. 5000 patients have
been clinically tested, utilizing Anodyne near infrared light
therapy, with reports of as much as a 67% reductions in pain. The
successful study outcomes have been reinforced by on-going
patient testimonials.
The theory behind Anodyne Therapy is that the longer light
waves produced by the near infrared light, we are able to reach the red
blood cells in the area affected by Neuropathy, and trigger
changes in those areas.
The infrared light stimulates the red blood cells to release
a substance known as Nitric Oxide, which is known to improve
circulation and reduce pain . This substance helps relax or
contracts the blood vessels, in the affected areas so that
oxygen and nutrients can enter the affected tissue, assisting
with the healing process and with symptom relief. |
